To the Powers that BE:
I think that you might want to look into a feature that would give users the Ability to publicly wear other users or flag the quick notes and the users account for review by a CL. I have spent a good deal of time thinking up how this could be dun mostly do to the actions of one user in particular on the zone. I understand that you have made it clear that you and the Community leaders are not people’s parents but in such a case I really feel that users having to send quick notes to a community leader are a little slow. I am willing to help with the code to set it up that if a person gets a set amount of warnings from users the account becomes disabled for a set amount of time or if the account is flagged then a community leader will know to review the users quick notes and actions to see why the account was flagged and tack action accordingly

I think this is a wonderful idea, MCT. Do you know any PHP yourself? I'd watch out for things which I think are not right (by my interpretation of the T.O.S.) and flag those who are continually doing things against the T.O.S.

Urm, who are you to be judging any user's standard of communication? If you don't like what a user says or does, then you ignore them. If you feel they are in breach of the terms of service, then you report them. However to give users some kind of power to warn others about their conduct, is stupid, and starts a form of policing in my opinion which the powers said they wouldn't do.

I have to say that Blackbird makes good and valid points with regard to this suggestion. The trouble is that all to often users call on community leaders to act in situations where simply the utilization of the ignore feature would suffice. From as little as a years experience with this job I know full well that if we were to implement such a feature as you're suggesting, we would, many more times than not, find ourselves looking into situations where one user has merely said something that another user hasn't liked so deemed it worthy of a complaint, whether it really is or not!

We do what we can to moderate everything that goes on here, however generally speaking, most things are considered acceptable and if that isn't to your liking, then you have the ignore feature available to you so that you can manually prevent seeing content that you personally find offensive. To put a structured complaints system in place as you are suggesting would A, make our lives as community leaders more difficult not easier, and B, at least in my opinion, would be overkill given that the option to ignore other users is already in place.

I'm definitely not in favor therefore. However, I'm always open to other people's arguments so, fire away.

Dan.

There goes Dan, showing favoritism to Kevin again. :P. I agree with them, though. The ignore feature is quite enough, in my humble opinion, and as Dan said, if such a feature were implemented, users would just misuse it whenever someone said something they didn't like.

i'm sorry but i am going to have to agree with dan here. it would just be a pointless feature,

Just a suggestion:
If you don't want to read said users posts put him, ur them, permanently on your ignore list. No need to get so worked up over any one user. If they prove themselves worthy of a permanent ban, they'll get it.

BTW, a feature allowing us to publicly wear other users, sounds beyond odd to me. :D

it was just an idea! thank you everyone or your thoughts and in responce to the question about PHP, Yes I do know PHP and have been programing in it for some time.

Well, I don't really agree with this idea because it would be misused. Now It's Ok for 1 user to tell there friends to ignore someone if it's a valid reason for ignoring them.

Oh boy, resurrection again for a dead topic.

It's true though. This poses a lot of abuse and people could get flagged for no reason or over something stupid like, who is insaulting someone good naturedly someone can take that the wrong way or someone swares. You get my point. there would be too much abuse. there is a reason they put in an ignore feature!

Erh. no this idea is bad for you. I think the ignore feature does the job quite nicely. Just by vercue of the zone, friends telling other friends causes enough policing. Adding this feature would only make the zone more controled and I think it is just not a good idea any way you slice or dice it.

I agree with all of you on this. I don't see the point but that's just me.
